Concept of the Inn

It is said that the Shinshu hemp industry goes back to the Heian period (794-1185),

and that there used to be people who spun hemp in this area since then.

Our Ryokan “Tsuchi to Ito (earth and thread)” is a renovated old private house, that has been

in use since the Edo period and is now open only to one guest/one guest group per stay.

After passing through the Main gate, you’ll enter the inner garden,

where the main house and a warehouse are located.

Like the land where hemp was once spun into yarn,

Spinning the "thread" to cloth,

like the origin of each

We hope to create a place where people can connect with each other.

And with the energy obtained from the "earth" that gives us what we eat,

We consider “Tsuchi to Ito (earth and thread)” as respective starting points.

This is what we wish to express in our Ryokan,

and we hope you will enjoy your stay to your hearts content.

Please spend a peaceful and relaxing time at "Tsuchi to Ito"

along with the scenery that changes with the seasons.
